The Goal

To drive downloads and user registrations of the UKTV Play app by communicating that the great content available is free to watch.


The Direction

We explored two distinct creative directions to ensure variety within the content - utilising impactful copy and a mix of footage:

Comedy Spotlight - as home to a huge variety of great comedy talent and shows, we utilise these ‘laughs’ to communicate to the audience that they can experience all the comedy via the UKTV Play app - for free!

No Brainer - using reaction shots and emotions to help visualise and communicate the feeling of watching TV you love on the UKTV Play app, for free!


Considerations

Focussing on in-feed first, we’ve made sure we tap into platform and creative best practices:

  • Brand - strong brand and proposition presence

  • Impact - grabs and holds attention from the off

  • Consumable - easily digestible and engaging within the feed

  • Messaging - clear and concise, delivering no-nonsense effective information

  • Variance - unique variables meaning you can test to understand what is engaging with consumers to influence future content

  • Following selection, you have two rounds of feedback to capture any required changes, such as pacing, branding tweaks or copy edits. Please ensure this is consolidated feedback with internal stakeholders

  • Once we have sign-off on the 4:5 assets we'll work on reformatting for 9:16
